Formlabs’ Innovate & Educate Challenge invited educators across the country to develop and share lesson plans that encourage creative thinking and hands-on learning through 3D printing. Thanks to those who submitted, we’re able to share free resources with a wider learning community dedicated to inspiring students with rich, immersive experiences.
The activities in this lesson plan, submitted by Hirshhorn/ARTLAB+, challenge students to harness their imaginative potential via enabling technologies within the 3D realm: scanning, modeling, modifying and printing a new take on an existing object, person, or scene.
Objectives include:
- Learn and apply best practices for capturing 3D scans of physical objects and environments
- Learn how to convert the output photogrammetry file to a solid watertight mesh, for compatibility with 3D printing
- Learn how to modify an object file, to incorporate corrections and creative enhancements
