Cutting Through the Hype: Realities of 3D Printing in Modern Manufacturing
Labconco’s first 3D printed part was a small pan stake that saved the company $15,000 and weeks of lead time. Since that first part, Product Engineer Brent Griffith has overhauled the industrial lab equipment company’s approach to manufacturing by introducing 3D printing.

Griffith uses Formlabs Fuse Series SLS 3D printers to manufacture end-use components across Labconco’s product catalog. Griffith audited Labconco’s entire inventory, and by applying Design For Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) principles, has drastically reduced manufacturing costs and labor time for the company.

Griffith will present his process for auditing products, evaluating potential savings or optimization, and integration into existing systems. By sharing several concrete examples, Griffith can provide a template for integrating SLS into your own workflows, cutting costs, and reducing labor in the manufacturing process.
